Following a complaint from a resident direct to the Council's parking enforcement hotline that access to their property was blocked by a parked car wardens visited The Alberts on 18 July and ticketed 18 residents parked on the footway. They were unaware of the 1994 agreement negotiated by Councillors which generally allows sensible footway parking overnight over single yellow lines until 9.30am every day and as a result these particular tickets will be cancelled. This agreement incidentally does not cover the stretch of single yellow line in front 1 to 17 Audley Road and offenders will quite rightly be fined. Would residents who have a particular probelm with access to their property such as the situation sparked by this latest incident please get in touch with the ACA so that the question can be taken up. In the meantime we should all remember our obligation to others to park responsibly - especially to leave enough room for emergency vehicles and other traffic to get past our cars, to be aware that inconsiderate parking on corners affects the ability of traffic to get out of side roads and to be considerate when parking close to front doors and gates. Remember also that we have access to parking in roads bordering the immediate Alberts - Marchmont Road, Kings Road, Spring Grove Road and Denbigh Gardens. Whether we like it or not the continuing growth of the number and size of vehicles in The Alberts means that we will have to make greater use of this overflow facility as many of us already have to.
